1. Set achievable goals
Setting goals helps keep you accountable, allows you to develop new behaviours and can help keep you motivated.
When starting out at the gym, we often set ourselves goals that we want to achieve in a couple of weeks. This can be great if we set SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, timely). However, sometimes if we set goals that are unattainable we can get knocked down easily if we are not seeing our desired results or goals be achieved in our first week of training.
By setting SMART goals you will be able to manage your progress in the gym and gradually progress to reach that final goal you have dreamt of!
2. Create a routine
Creating a routine will allow you to be consistent with your training. When you are consistent, you are more likely to achieve your goals, increase your fitness, and improve your overall health and wellbeing.
Some habits we love to do is meal prepping, having scheduled gym sessions planned for the week and keeping our week dynamic so we don’t lose motivation!
3. Make it fun
A fun gym routine will lead to increased motivation and eagerness to train. We don’t want coming to the gym to feel like a chore!
One way to make training fun is by having a routine that varies each week. At The Local Group we offer a range of dynamic group fitness classes which are great for increasing fitness and also socialising with the local community.
Another great way to make the gym fun is by finding a workout buddy to help motivate and support one another. No training buddy, no worries! Having a Personal Trainer is a great way to keep you accountable and monitor your success.
